Football Fever 足球.大热

It was hot! At a soaring 38 degrees celsius, you don’t feel like doing anything, except to hide yourself inside the hotel’s room, with the air-con running in full blast mode.

After a flight from Singapore to Danang via Ho Chi Minh City, a tiring journey that took me 6 hours, plus another hour drive from Danang to Hoi An, I just want to lie down on the bed, and get my back straight again. I need a pleasant and soothing weather, not a free sun-tanning session.

I tried to get a nap before exploring this ancient town of Central Vietnam, but in vain. It was already 4pm. I couldn’t think of anywhere except Cua Dai Beach, which is 5km away from Hoi An. I thought it would definitely be a perfect place to unwind myself.

I rented a bicycle, followed the road shown on the map, and headed to the beach. Given the fact that the weather was ridiculously hot, it was not surprise to see tons of locals flocking to the beach to beat the summer heat. But what I didn’t expect, was the fact that everyone here was having fever - the football fever!

It was the eve of World Cup final. I don’t know who will be the champion yet. Spain or Netherlands? But now, I was watching the “preview”, live in Cua Dai Beach, Hoi An.
