The Face – Favourite Shots of India 3 of 5

(A Spectator at Mela Ground, Pushkar, India)

I have been shooting so many photos before but I’ve never paid any special attention when taking portraits. I never understand why photographers are so fascinated by portraits, till I saw her eyes in this shot. Though this portrait was taken slightly out of focus  and I was also frustrated by the obscure caused by somebody’s hand, it is still one of my favourite portraits. I like the way she look at me. The face was full of expressions, and it was definitely a face with many untold stories. I stared at this photo for a very long time when I retrieved it from the memory card. I don’t know why. I felt like wanted to know more about her world, through her eyes.

I told myself that I would never ever take shooting portraits so lightly again!

  1. Wow and I almost thought it’s that famous picture of the Afghan girl. Yours look very similar. Yes you’re right. Her face carries an untold story that we perhaps will never find out.

    • I haven’t reached that level yet, sadly! Steve McCurry’s blog link is placed under my blogroll. There are lots of amazing photos!!!!
